WORKSHOP IN POLICY
ANALYSIS

This course is a continuation of ECON 205A (Economic Analysis for
Decision Making). The core of the course involves each student choosing a
topic in policy analysis and then research, writing and presenting a term
paper on that topic. there will be an introductory survey of policy analysis
to acquaint students with major issues. Some areas which may be covered are:
- Transportation economics of urban centers
- Health and medical economic policy
- Urban development and redevelopment policy
- Environmental economics and pollution control policy
- Tax policy and tax reform at the Federal, state and local level
- Economic development and foreign aid policy
- Education and training policy and finance
- Regulation and stabilization of financial institutions
- Encouragement and pormotion of entrepreneurship
- International trade policy
- Housing economics and policy
- Solid waste disposal policy
- Drug control policy
During the middle part of the course students will make progress
reports on their research and hear suggestions from the instructor
and fellow students for further research. The last part of the course
will be devoted to presentations by students of the final results of
their research and analysis.
