In 2004, a man who might soon have retired after 11 years as SJSU’s vice president for Administration and Finance suddenly found himself called upon to serve as the university’s president. Here is the story of how Don Kassing, retiring for certain this month, led the campus from a critical moment in its history into an era of resounding achievement and success.
