Step 1: Check the Admission Requirements

Step 2: Apply to San José State University
- Access your Cal State Apply account
- Select "Start Your Application"
- Select "San José State" under the Campus selection
- Select "Spring" or "Fall" under the Start Term selection
- Select "Source" under the Source selection
- Data Analytics is the designation for MSDA on Cal State Apply
- When completing the final part of the application marked Program Materials, click on the blue Questions tab to choose between Regular Session Admission and Special Session Admission. For more information, visit the Regular Versus Special Session page.
Application and document deadlines for Fall 2025 admission:

Step 3: Check Your Admission Status
After applying to SJSU, log in to MySJSU to check the status of your application and your "to-do" list for any missing documents. All required documents must be submitted to Graduate Admissions to complete your application. Once your status has been updated to “Referred to Graduate Department”, you have successfully submitted all required documents.
