Every year on April 22, Earth Day, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, is celebrated around the world. To honor his memory as one of the founders of the modern environmental movement and as one of SJSU's most esteemed alum, we devote every Earth Day to bringing education and awareness to local and global sustainability issues affecting students, faculty, staff and community alike. As awareness of sustainability grows and issues get more broad, Earth Day has turned into Earth Month. April will be devoted to educating our fellow Spartans on issues ranging from climate change, environmental justice, food and clothing waste, drought tolerant landscaping among many others.
We devote every April to bringing awareness to Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) through programming to help educate and connect our community to create change. Engage with us through podcasts, social media campaigns, and outreach to continue in this important work. Remember: Your voice has power, believe survivors, end victim blaming, ask for consent, and respect boundaries.
Hosted by the Africana, Asian American, Chicano, and Native American Studies Center and in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, "21@2021" is the celebration of the 21st Family Art Exhibit of the Chan Lim Family. The Chan Lim Family of Artists is best known for their Asian-themed art with a particular focus on Chinese brush painting. The family has been actively engaged in the arts for more than half a century to date. The three generations of the Chan Lim Family use a multitude of media, styles, and techniques to incorporate Western into Eastern art. They continue to get involved in the arts by actively developing and promoting Chinese brush painting in the Philippines and abroad. This exhibit in particular presents Chinese brush painting on colorful lanterns.
