Teacher Residency Program

The Teacher Residency Program at the Connie L. Lurie College of Education creates opportunities for teacher candidates to gain valuable professional experience, ongoing professional development, and significant financial support over the course of an academic year, all while decreasing the amount of time needed to complete a credential program. Through effective partnerships with school districts in the region, candidates are paired with mentor teachers and learn how to meet the needs of the students in those districts.

Listen to Lurie College faculty David Whitenack and Lisa Simpson discuss the residency in more detail in their podcast episode below.

Are you pursuing a career in teaching because you want to serve diverse students in a high-needs school district? Are you planning to student teach Fall 2021-Spring 2022? Your best option could be the teacher residency program!
