Starve 'em into Submission
For at least two years, the Division of Athletics has entertained the idea of closing the dorm dining commons on game day and bussing students to Spartan Stadium to get their food, counting them in the attendance figures when they pass through the turnstiles to do so.
[o]ne of the other ideas for drawing students [to football games] was to close campus dining halls during games and provide their meals at the stadium (Sabedra 2002). When he was asked about this, AD Chuck Bell said, Thats one of the things that wed probably save until 2004 (Sabedra 2002).
Starving students into attending a football game or any other activity -- they would not otherwise attend is an act of desperation.
