I am interested in how physical climate impacts interact with environmental management
and ecological functioning, on time scales of storms to decades. I have experience
studying wave-driven beach erosion and recovery; the use of beach nourishment (sand
replenishment) as a coastal management practice; and satellite mapping of coral reefs
to inform conservation and restoration efforts. I am also passionate about environmental
justice and climate change communication, and advancing equity and inclusion in science.
I am excited to be joining San Jose State University in Fall 2021 as a tenure-track
Assistant Professor for the new Earth System Science major, developing connections
between the main campus and SJSU's Moss Landing Marine Laboratories.
