Clyde Brewer, SJSU articulation officer, has received the Annual Service Award from the California Intersegmental Articulation Council. In the council’s presentation to Brewer, it was noted, "Brewer has always been available to consult with community college articulation officers and faculty on thorny issues of curriculum and articulation. Through these efforts, which are above and beyond the call of duty, he has advanced the reputation of the articulation officer as a valued resource and true professional." Opera soprano Erie Mills, associate professor of voice, was inducted into the Granite City, Illinois, Hall of Fame as a distinguished alumnus of the city’s high school. Mills was among the first five distinguished alumni whose photos were placed on a new Wall of Fame; stones with their names will be placed outside the gymnasium.

Jennifer Kloetzel, founding cellist of the Cyprus String Quartet, the resident chamber ensemble at SJSU, was one of two winners of the McGraw-Hill Companies’ Third Annual Robert Sherman Award for Music Education and Community Outreach. The award recognizes a Julliard alumnus or alumna for outstanding musicianship and leadership in providing enrichment to broad audiences through music education programs.
