President Kassing recently appeared in a two-part interview on Comcast Cable’s Community Television Forum, "Issues Today," on Channel 15 or 15A. The second 30-minute segment will air on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m. Kassing discussed where education is now, challenges at SJSU, changing demographics, housing, strategic planning and the role of athletics in the university’s mission. Assistant Professor Scott Sublett’s musical satire, "Bye-Bye Bin Laden," has been named one of the "Top five Bay Area Premieres of 2004" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, in an article by critic Robert Avila. The play, which was produced in October 2004 by the Custom-Made Theatre Company at the Off-Market Theatre in San Francisco, was initially produced at SJSU with a student cast. Bill Reckmeyer, professor of leadership and systems in the Department of Anthropology, delivered two invited presentations at recent scientific conferences. Reckmeyer presented the opening plenary address on "Developing a Coherent Systems-of-Systems Approach for NASA Space Exploration" at a special NASA workshop, in Pasadena. He also presented a plenary address on "Towards a Systems-of-Systems Approach to Nano Science Policy and Development" at the Nano Policy Workshop, in Santa Clara.
