Head football Coach Dick Tomey and Virginia University's Rich Rodriguez have been added to the American Football Coaches Association's Board of Trustees. They join a group of distinguished head coaches who guide the organization. Tomey, who was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1996 to 2000 while at the University of Arizona, will move into the third vice-president role in 2006. Professor Richard Chung, chemical and materials engineering, along with Jay Pinson, former dean of College of Engineering, organized a banquet for the Silicon Valley Engineering Council, which was held last week in Santa Clara, during National Engineers Week. More than 520 attendees, including Dean Belle Wei and many faculty and students, participated in the banquet, which honored and recognized contributions made by engineers, including five leading engineers who were inducted into SVEC's Hall of Fame. Last week, Jan English-Lueck, professor of anthropology, presented a talk on Silicon Valley's culture of innovation for the Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
