Political Science Professor Terry Christensen is participating in a panel discussion presented by the Commonwealth Club and the League of Women Voters on "The Ramifications of California's Recall Election," on Tue., Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m. (6 p.m. registration), at the Le Petit Trianon in downtown San Jos?. Amy Glazer, professor in film and theatre, reports that the short film she directed with her students, "Ball Lightning," was selected for the video competition section of the 56th Annual Locarno International Film Festival, in Locarno, Switzerland, last month. Says Glazer, "It was a thrill to experience my first public screening, which was very well attended and received." Caroline Winterer, associate professor in cultural history, has been named one of 13 fellowship recipients for 2003/04 by the George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation, administered by Brown University. Selected from among 164 scholars nominated by administrative officers of colleges and universities throughout the country, Winterer was awarded $20,000 for her research project, "The Mirror of Antiquity: Female Classical Figures in America, 1770-1900."
