Jonathan Roth, associate professor of history, participated in a four-day workshop on the impact of the Roman Army (200 BC to AD 476), which was held in Capri, Italy. Roth spoke on "Jews and the Roman Army: Perceptions and Realities." According to Roth, San José State was one of only two American universities represented at the conference, which included many of the leading military historians of Europe. Susan Murray, assistant professor of sociology, has been instrumental in organizing SJSU's Transgender Awareness Week and Symposium, which begins today and continues through Wednesday, April 20. The event is designed to foster education and community building, and to promote positive, empowering dialogue through various speakers and artists on the transgender experience. Bob Rucker, associate professor of journalism and mass communications, recently participated in a panel discussion of Bay Area journalists who discussed broadcasting ethics.
