At its meeting today, from 2 to 5 p.m. in Engineering 189, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 29, the Academic Senate will discuss and vote on revisions to the General Education guidelines; a resolution to modify the current policy on the fee waivers for teaching associates; and creation of a Faculty Diversity Committee, reports Annette Nellen, chair of the senate. Today, the Senate Executive Committee will also bring two sense-of-the-senate resolutions: one that calls upon President Kassing to form a committee to begin planning for the university's 150th anniversary; the other, a request that President Kassing and Provost Carmen Sigler sign on with the Association of American Colleges and Universities as a partner to promote understanding of the importance of a liberal education. Faculty, administrators and students are encouraged to contact their senate representative for questions or suggestions. For agenda and materials, see http://www.sjsu.edu/senate/index1a.html.
