Bill Meredith, director of the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies, reports that the center recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a conference for members of the American Beethoven Society, a nonprofit organization whose international membership includes leading scholars, musicians and hundreds of music lovers. Says Provost Carmen Sigler, "As a public urban university, we have a strong commitment to serving the educational needs of San José and Silicon Valley. The center has made a significant contribution to our faculty and staff as well as to the cultural life of the region. It has also brought national and international recognition to the university."
