According to Sally Veregge, chair of the Academic Senate, at today's meeting (from 2 to 5 p.m., Engineering 189), the senate will consider a recommendation to significantly revise its policy on the Criteria for Appointment, Retention, Tenure, and Promotion of faculty employees. The Professional Standards Committee brings the first reading of this policy recommendation to the Senate floor after more than two years of gathering widespread input from the campus community and studying model policies of other universities. A final vote on the policy is scheduled for the next meeting in December. The senate will also consider which of SJSU's six shared values it will highlight in 2006-2007.
