Last week, the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship of the College of Business at SJSU held its second annual Neat Ideas Fair, which showcased 74 inventions and entrepreneurial ideas from SJSU faculty, alumni, students and staff, reports Anuradha Basu, director of the center. The event featured inventions and entrepreneurial ideas representing over 14 industries, including: fashion, transportation, mechanical engineering, and nutrition. Representatives from local venture capital firms, entrepreneurs, and executives of merging and mid-sized Silicon Valley companies judged exhibitors based on the elevator pitch, social innovation, presentation, and highest number of votes from attendees ("the People's Choice Award"). Winners received various prizes that totaled more than $15,000. Local leading businesses, including Adobe, HP, Joint Venture Silicon Valley, Microsoft, San Jos?? Biocenter, Silicon Valley Bank, Software Business Cluster, and Target supported the fair. For more, see www.cob.sjsu.edu/.
