SAN JOSE, Calif. "Showcase," San Jos? State University's
third annual exposition spotlighting university programs and services, will
be held Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Event Center.
Geared to prospective and current students as well as parents, community members and alumni, Showcase will give visitors a comprehensive look at what the university is all about, according to the event's chair, Carmen Sigler, dean of SJSU's College of Humanities and the Arts. "On behalf of the Showcase Steering Committee," Sigler said, "I would like to extend a warm invitation to everyone. Showcase is an excellent way to learn what the university offers in education and research, and how SJSU contributes to the Silicon Valley community."
Showcase will feature interactive demonstrations, artistic and cultural performances, campus tours, and information booths sponsored by most of the university's programs and services. Admissions staff members also will be on hand to help potential students enroll online for the spring 2004 semester, which begins Jan. 29.
In addition, there will be drawings for $4,000 in scholarships for undergraduate
and graduate students, workshops on how to apply for admission, information
about financial aid, and an exhibit of scholarly projects produced by SJSU graduate
students.
There will be free parking in the university's Seventh Street Garage, located
at the corner of Seventh and San Salvador streets.
Showcase is being held in conjunction with the university's homecoming and alumni association's reunion weekend for the classes of 1953 through 1993.
For more information on Showcase, call (408) 924-5105 or visit www.sjsu.edu/showcase.
