For two decades, SJSU has fostered one of the nation???s leading media arts programs, the CADRE Laboratory for New Media (Computers in Art, Design, Research and Education), directed by Joel A. Slayton, professor of art and design. The university and CADRE will showcase their achievements as founding partners and sponsors of ZeroOne, a media arts festival, August 7-13, in downtown San Jos??. Slayton is the academic chairman of ZeroOne and two related conferences, the Pacific Rim New Media Summit and ISEA2006 (the 13th Biennial International Symposium for Electronic Arts). In addition, he has arranged the university???s sponsorship of ZeroOne artists in residence and gallery exhibits, including a show at WORKS/San Jos?? featuring 21 CADRE master of fine arts graduates.
