Electrical engineering on a microscopic scale is the topic of the 16th Biennial University-Government-Industry Microelectronics Symposium opening today at the College of Engineering. Eighty international executives, government researchers and academics will attend the two-day conference, which includes sessions on nanotechnology, semiconductors, circuits, and microelectronic research and education partnerships. Besides speakers from leading corporations as well as from SJSU, NASA and Stanford, SJSU engineering students will present their research beside counterparts from Stanford, UCLA, the University of California-Berkeley, and the University of California-Santa Cruz. ???To be chosen to host the conference is an honor,??? said David Wahlgren Parent, symposium chairman and an SJSU associate professor of electrical engineering. ???It reflects the College of Engineering???s hard work and dedication in bringing microelectronics, MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) and nanotech to SJSU???s students.???
