"As the epicenter of innovation, the eighth-largest economy in the world in its own right, and a trailblazer in social trends, California should be on the forefront of women's leadership in the corporate arena. The truth is it is not," according to a study released recently by the Center for Women and Leadership at the University of California-Davis' Graduate School of Management. The study examined California"s 400 largest public companies and found that "for every nine men in the executive suites and boardrooms of these companies, there is only one woman." Santa Clara County is home to 105 of these companies, where 6.5 percent of directors and 8.8 percent of executive officers at those companies are female. Read more.
