Edward Stringham, professor of economics, placed first in the Intercollegiate Studies Institute's 2006 Templeton Enterprise Awards. The honor recognizes his work on "Mises, Bastiat, Public Opinion and Public Choice," an article published by the Review of Political Economy. He and co-author Bryan Caplan, an economics professor at George Mason University, are sharing the $25,000 prize. More.

Rod Diridon, executive director of SJSU's Mineta Transportation Institute, has been reappointed to the California High Speed Rail Authority Board. In addition, keynote speakers for the institute's fourth National Transportation Security Summit in Washington, D.C., will be U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and former U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta.
