Dore Bowen, assistant professor of art and design, co-curated "Not Given: Talking of and Around Photographs of Arab Women," a multimedia installation at SF Camerawork in San Francisco. The show "features a range of projected images and prints that call into question preconceived notions of Middle Eastern photography, in general, and Arab women in particular," according to SF Camerawork. Alan Soldofsky, professor of English, recently attended the 13th Annual Conference of the Robinson Jeffers Association, an affiliate author society of the American Literature Association. At the conference, held at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, Soldofsky presented a paper, "'Horror Away From the House': Robinson Jeffers' Habitations of the Sublime." Jeffers was a major American poet from Carmel. More on the Jeffers association.
