Ever wonder why zinc oxide ??? the opaque sunscreen popularly known for protecting lifeguards' noses ??? is now transparent? Seventeen teachers from throughout the Bay Area will get the answer at a weeklong nanoscale science workshop beginning June 25 at SJSU. NanoSense ??? a National Science Foundation project that aims to introduce high school students to nanoscale science ??? will help teachers explore unique phenomena at the nanoscale, participate in hands-on activities for introducing students to nanoscale science, and discuss how to implement relevant activities in their classrooms.
