SJSU has made a new commitment to support an emerging art genre that's perfect for Silicon Valley. Media art uses computers, mobile media, social networks and more to create art that examines the most pertinent issues of our time, including globalization, sustainability and censorship. SJSU's CADRE Laboratory for New Media and the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga have created a residency program for artists in this field. Their work will be displayed next summer at downtown San Jos??'s 01SJ 2008 Biennale, a media arts festival. Get a sneak peak this week when the residency program, known as FUSE, kicks off a lecture series featuring artists participating in the program. Or head to San Jos?? City Hall at 8 p.m. September 28 to see "Abundance," a massive interactive media arts piece that will be projected on the rotunda. More on the FUSE. More on 01SJ 2008.
