In celebration of National Poetry Month, the SJSU Poets and Writers Coalition will present "A Reading and Celebration of San José State University's Favorite Poems" at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in Spartan Memorial Chapel. Three award-winning poets who attended San José State -- Sally Ashton, Kathleen Lynch and Neli Moody -- will read their favorite poems. They will be joined by students, faculty, staff and graduates.
San José State will hold its 46th Annual Honors Convocation at 6 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the Event Center. Almost 2,500 outstanding students will be honored. All earned a 3.65 or higher grade point average at San José State in at least two contiguous semesters of the three semesters prior to the convocation. Karen Singmaster, chemistry professor and recipient of the 2007/2008 Outstanding Professor Award, will serve as guest speaker.
The SJSU Alumni Association's Santa Clara Valley Chapter will host a Hit and Giggle Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 26, at the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club. Each team will play a "scramble" format, which means there is no individual scoring -- but there will be plenty of prizes! Tee time is 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $100 per person.
