Carmen Sigler, provost and vice president for academic affairs, appeared in Hispanic Business magazine's 100 Influentials 2008 feature. In addition to her duties at SJSU, the magazine notes Sigler, an Argentina native, is board chair of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley and a board member of the Montalvo Arts Center and Opera San José.

Guna Selvaduray, associate dean for research and professor of materials engineering within the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering, will receive the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society's Outstanding Educator Award for 2008. He will formally receive the honor at the society's annual conference, which will be held in Providence, Rhode Island, in November.
