The last two descendants of the Inca nation will perform a blessing ceremony at noon Thursday, November 20, on Tower Lawn. Don Humberto and Dona Bernadina's unprecedented visit to San José State, spurred by an SJSU study abroad trip to Peru, is one of the many events planned for International Week. The Inca are renowned for for creating Machu Picchu in Peru and their enlightenment and close relationship with nature.
Other International Week highlights include an International Food Festival in the Dining Commons; a Renaissance music concert; Salzburg Fellows presentations; entrepreneur/investor Naren Gupta speaking on "Successful Entrepreneurship in a Global World;" and the Peter Lee Memorial International Lecture by Yolanda Moses, a University of California, Riverside, anthropology professor.
SJSU's International Week coincides with International Education Week 2008, which is supported by the federal education and state departments to "celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide." SJSU's International and Extended Studies office is coordinating campus events.
