John Steinbeck's Cannery Row is the campus reading selection for spring 2009, and the San José State Campus Reading Program and the Martha Heasley Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies are partnering to offer new perspectives on this classic novel. A.L. "Scrap" Lundy will talk about his new book, Real Life on Cannery Row: People, Places and Events that Inspired John Steinbeck at noon Wednesday, March 11, in the Steinbeck Center, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, fifth floor. Lundy spent ten years thoroughly researching the real people, places and events of Steinbeck's Cannery Row. On a related note, Color of the Sea by John Hamamura will be the campus reading selection for fall 2009.
