Judith Lessow-Hurley, professor of elementary education within the Connie L. Lurie College of Education, has received the San José State Distinguished Service Award for 2008-2009. Lessow-Hurley was a pioneer in addressing the critical importance of preparing teachers to serve California's diverse K-12 and college student populations. She has also served as a member and chair of the Academic Senate. She will be formally presented with the honor at the 10th Annual Faculty Service Recognition and Awards Luncheon Tuesday, April 14, in the Student Union Barrett Ballroom.
