San José State is one of ten California State University campuses recently awarded a total of $16 million by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the state's stem cell agency. SJSU received $1.73 million, more than any other CSU campus except CSU Channel Islands, which received the same amount. San José State will partner with Escape Therapeutics, The Parkinson's Institute, Stanford University and the University of California, Santa Cruz, to provide students with the academic and practical experience they need to pursue careers involving stem cell research. SJSU's award was secured by a College of Science team including Associate Professor of Biological Sciences Tzvia Abramson and Professors of Biological Sciences John Boothby and Sally Veregge.
