Gerry Selter, executive assistant to the president, will serve as San José State's acting provost and vice president for academic affairs when current Provost Carmen Sigler retires in August. Selter will remain in this new role until a new provost is appointed in late fall of 2009. Selter brings to the position a wealth of academic and administrative experience gained during a 40-year career at SJSU, including five years in the president's office and a decade as dean of the College of Science. He joined the SJSU faculty in 1968 as professor of chemistry.
