In the strongest sign yet that San José State's Spartan Film Studios has produced its first big hit, "All About Dad" received the outstanding first film award at the 2009 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. The film was written and directed by alumnus Mark Tran while he was an SJSU student and recent graduate. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has seen the movie, which rivals the finest independent pictures in writing, acting, costumes, sets and cinematography.
