Two master of public administration students are heading to Washington, D.C. Amanda Baker, recipient of the Nancy and Phyllis A. Ward Scholarship, will intern this summer with Congressman Mike Honda. John Gomez, representing SJSU at the Leon and Sylvia Panetta Congressional Internship program, will intern this fall with California's congressional delegation.
Martin Kropelnicki, a San José State alumnus and chief financial officer for California Water Service Group, was named Bay Area CFO of the Year for public companies with revenues up to $500 million. The program is a partnership between the San Francisco Business Times and Larkin Street Youth Services.
Melodie Cameron and Julie Sedlemeyer of the SJSU Career Center presented "DisAbilities: Working Towards A Brighter Future" at a recent PAC RIM Conference on Disabilities. Their presentation focused on career development strategies for college students with disabilities.
Jonathan Karpf, an anthropology lecturer, was recently elected as one of nine statewide California Faculty Association officers.
The Department of Kinesiology, with assistance from the SJSU Research Foundation, has secured a three-year contract to operate the Timpany Center, a specialized pool used by young and old in therapy.
The Center for Service Learning's role in the Veggielution Urban Farming Project was highlighted in a recent California State University newsletter. Also, the San Jose Mercury News has profiled two campus programs in front-page stories.
