The San José Fire Department responded to two fires in Joe West Hall at approximately 9 a.m. Thursday, November 12. Both fires have been extinguished. There were no major injuries. Joe West Hall's 500 residents were evacuated.

The fire department cleared the building, reset the fire alarms and reopened the building to residents around 3 p.m. The San José State University Police Department has launched an investigation.
