In celebration of Women's History Month and Persian New Year, the Student Association for Middle East Studies at SJSU will screen the "Arusi Persian Wedding" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, in Engineering 189. Directed by the Bay Area's Marjan Tehrani, the film tells the story of Tehrani's Iranian American brother and American sister-in-law, who journey to Iran to celebrate their marriage. While there, they transcend the conflict between Iran and the United States and embrace both their Iranian and American cultures. A question and answer session with Tehrani will follow the screening. Persian New Year is Saturday, March 20.

Also, The Age of Orphans author Laleh Khadivi will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, in the Cultural Heritage Center, fifth floor, King Library. Her novel is the first in a trilogy following the lives of three generations of Kurdish men as they grapple with landlessness, migration and national identity.
