At the beginning of the year, San Jose State set out to be the first academic institution to work with all faculty, staff and students to reduce our collective ecological footprint. We challenged every individual to measure his or her eco footprint in the fall, then we offered a series of free Sustainability Matters workshops designed to help people reduce their impacts.
With the year drawing to a close, Director of Sustainability Katherine Cushing has named six winners in two categories. For lowest overall eco footprint, the winners were Professor of Urban and Regional Planning Dayana Salazar, Administrative Assistant Sstoz Tes, and student Sarah Naumann. For greatest eco footprint reduction, the winners were Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Development Robin Love, Athletic Academic Advisor Sandra Smith, and student Tamara Hoyt.
