The Silicon Valley Local History Network was recently awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant of $146,325 from the California State Library to produce a digital database, Silicon Valley History Online. The network is comprised of the SJSU Library Special Collections /University Archives, the California Room of the San Jose Public Library, and five other local institutions.
Designed for use primarily by patrons of archives, libraries and historical societies, research scholars and local historians, teachers and students in K-12, the new Web site will provide a selection of historically significant materials from collections in the seven participating archives and libraries in Santa Clara County. These materials will provide glimpses of life in Santa Clara Valley through time, says Steven Groth, coordinator of special collections for the King Library.
