The San José Redevelopment Agency has selected SJSU’s Foundation and the Bay Area Global Access Innovation Network as the management team for San José’s new Bioscience Incubator and Innovation Center, the first of its kind on the West Coast. The incubator is slated to open in July to lead the growing bioscience industry in Silicon Valley. Located in the Edenvale Industrial Park in South San José, the center is the fourth incubator operated by the foundation. "The commitment by the city’s leadership sends a strong and clear message to the business community that we will help you succeed," says Mary Sidney, chief operating officer of the foundation. "This will both attract entrepreneurs and ensure that they have what they need to get up and running quickly in a very competitive economic environment." The foundation will also link specialized and multidisciplinary capabilities of SJSU faculty, students and programs with incubator companies, and will develop opportunities for workforce development and training.
