SJSU ranked 10th in the top 10 public colleges and universities in the West that offer undergraduate and master's programs (master's universities) in U.S. News and World Report's 2005 survey of best colleges, down from 9th place last year. On the national level, the university's undergraduate engineering program ranks 14th place, the same as last year.
