Gilles Muller, assistant professor of inorganic chemistry, comes to SJSU from the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he worked as a teaching postdoctoral scholar. Muller taught general chemistry, spectroscopy, and inorganic chemistry at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research focuses on the design of luminescent lanthanide complexes with chiral ligands as potential probes of more complex molecules. Muller has published numerous articles and also given oral and poster presentations. A citizen of France, Muller received his Ph.D. in coordination chemistry at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2000. See www.chemistry.sjsu.edu/gmuller. Jill Cody, internationally recognized for her work as a professional meeting facilitator, is now serving as chair of the recreation and leisure studies department. Previously president and founder of Cody Associates, Cody has worked throughout the United States assisting organizations such as McDonald???s, Applied Materials and the National Collegiate Athletics Association with team building, process analysis and issues management. She has also served as program creator for the Adopt-A-Park program for the City of San Jos??. Throughout her career, Cody has been involved in a number of projects for SJSU. From 2001 to 2003, for example, she designed and implemented focus groups to gather input on the new King Library. Elizabeth Weiss, associate professor of anthropology, previously served for two years as a research associate for the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Weiss was also a teaching/laboratory assistant for both the University of Arkansas and CSU Sacramento. Her primary research expertise is in post-cranial studies using CT scans, X-rays and metrics on past populations to reconstruct lifestyles and better understand bone biology. Weiss has authored numerous articles, manuscripts and abstracts and has presented at numerous conferences. She received a doctorate in environmental dynamics at the University of Arkansas.
