Bio
Dr. Chia-Ling Mao serves as a psychiatric-community mental health nurse and has worked in academia for over 40 years. Dr. Mao has presented papers related to community mental health at regional, national, and international conferences. Her other accomplishments include publication of numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and contribution to book chapters in psychiatric nursing and women's health. Her interests lie in promoting mental health and cultural competency in collaboration with interdisciplinary health care teams.
Driven by her passion for promoting culturally competent care, Dr. Mao pioneered a study abroad program for undergraduate nursing students to facilitate international cultural exchange. She has also taught a variety of nursing courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels. During her spare time, Dr. Mao enjoys volunteering to provide medical services to vulnerable populations, such as those with invisible disabilities, sociological disadvantages, geriatrics, long term care clients, etc.
