Bio

My research focuses on characterizing physicochemical properties of organic aerosols (a major component of fine particulate matter) that shape Earth’s climate through their direct radiative properties and role in cloud processes. My research involves revealing the sheer chemical complexity of many atmospheric intermediates, while bringing focus to those sources and processes which are ubiquitous and most important for air quality and climate. I do this by conducting laboratory simulations of atmospheric processes,  taking field measurements, and utilizing custom-built chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation for chemical characterization of organic aerosols.
