Bio

Tatianna Kern is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor and Assistant Professor at the Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San José State University. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, both from San Francisco State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa.

Professor Kern's clinical background spans emergency and medical-surgical nursing, including extensive experience in high-acuity care settings. This foundation informs her approach to clinical education, where she emphasizes preserving patient dignity and restoring a sense of control for individuals navigating some of the most vulnerable moments of their care.

She is currently pursuing further advanced practice training as a Family Nurse Practitioner student, with current clinical rotations in Urgent Care and Primary Care. Professor Kern brings this ongoing clinical experience directly into her teaching, bridging frontline practice with nursing education to prepare students for the realities of patient care.
