Alumni
San José State University has graduated scientists for more than 85 years. From teachers
and research scientists, to doctors and pharmacists, to software developers and mathematicians,
our alumni are doing a lot with their science and mathematics degrees! Our graduates
are earning PhDs, medical and professional degrees at top universities, such as U.C.
San Francisco, Stanford University and U.C. Berkeley, among many others. As the only
public 4-year university in Silicon Valley, SJSU graduates are also making a large
contribution to Bay Area technology companies.
Distinguished alumni include:
- Ray Dolby, founder of Dolby sound systems
- John Farley, 2000 (MS Meteorology), former NBC 11 chief meteorologist (San José)
- Gordon Moore, founder of Intel Corporation, "Moore's Law" creator
- Ed Oates, 1968 (Science/Math) co-founder of Oracle
