Will I be treated differently as a crosstown cadet?
No. Crosstown cadets receive the same training and opportunities as those attending the host university. All cadets are held to identical standards and requirements, ensuring a uniform and comprehensive AFROTC experience. However, cadets from institutions operating on a quarter-system academic calendar may need to coordinate with the cadre to address any missed requirements due to scheduling differences.
Is being a crosstown cadet difficult?
While being a crosstown cadet offers valuable experiences, it may present certain challenges:
- Commuting: Regular travel to SJSU for AFROTC commitments requires effective time management and dedication.
- Academic Calendar Differences: Institutions with differing academic calendars may necessitate additional effort to stay aligned with AFROTC training schedules.
- Schedule Coordination: Balancing AFROTC activities with academic responsibilities demands careful planning and prioritization.
Despite these challenges, many crosstown cadets find the experience rewarding and manageable with proper organization and commitment.
Are there other cadets at my college?
If your college or university is listed among our partner institutions, there is a high likelihood of having fellow cadets at your campus. Crosstown cadets often coordinate carpooling and study groups to support each other. Once part of the cadet wing, you will have opportunities to connect and collaborate with peers from both SJSU and other crosstown schools.
If your college is not listed above, please use the AFROTC College Locator tool to determine your host university.
