Post-Tenure Career Engagement

Do you remember what it was like to get your first driver’s license, especially as a teenager? The wait seemed to take forever, but once you are licensed, you have multiple decades to enjoy driving. So it is with tenure: here before you know it . . . now where do you want to go with the rest of your faculty career?

In addition to our programs for RSCA, teaching innovation, and faculty learning communities, CFETI is growing its roster of programs to support post-tenure career engagement. These include the Womxn's Leadership Group and the Promotion to Full workshop.

• Womxn’s Leadership Group

  • SJSU’s Womxn’s Leadership Group is for post-tenure womxn faculty who are interested in exploring and have the strong potential for formal leadership roles in the future--whether in their department, college, professional organizations, or beyond. Created by womxn for womxn, the topics of these meetings will enable you to reconceive “leadership” and network with a community of peers to explore the nuances of leadership for womxn.

    Womxn’s Leadership Group meets twice a semester. Our kickoff luncheon for AY2024-25 is scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024 from 12:00 - 1:30pm. Please RSVP if you would like to join or receive information about future meetings.

• "Promotion to Full" Workshop

  • You made it to Associate Professor! That’s great, but what happens next? Join us for a discussion about the timelines, standards, and strategies for promotion to the highest rank of our profession. 

    Each spring, CFETI hosts a workshop where you will gain an overview of the process and timeline, and hear insights shared by a panel of seasoned colleagues. Please check back here for our Spring 2025 workshop.
