SJSU EAP

SJSU Early Assessment Program (EAP) provides high school outreach services throughout Santa Clara County about the CSU Multiple Measures placement criteria and informs high school students how to best academically prepare for general education math and writing courses. EAP academic preparation involves partnering with high school educators and external community partners to continue to support high school students' academic preparation before and after they arrive at a CSU.

CSU Chancellor’s Executive Order 1110

After the approval of Executive Order 1110, the California State University eliminated the English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry Level Math (ELM) exams and implemented a CSU Multiple Measures criteria for first year course placement. With the implementation in 2018, the California State Universities no longer offer remedial courses. Currently, incoming first year students have the opportunity to take general education math and writing courses with or without support based on their enrollment category determined by the CSU Multiple Measures criteria.

CSU Aacdemic Preparation Policy

Why is EAP important?

It allows the CSU system to place students in the correct General Education (GE) Mathematics and English courses that align with their academic needs and career goals.
