Library Project, Page 6Getting Materials from Other SourcesIn my search for “Kayapo” on Academic Search Premier, I also found what appears to be an interesting article on “Brazil's Indians and the Onslaught of Civlization” by Brent Simpson. By the way, if you fill out your data collection sheet from the EBSCO page, it will save you trouble toggling between windows later. The first thing I do is click on the title of the article to find out if it is a book, book review, or an article. It turns out to be a review, but I am intrigued. I click on “Full Text,” and am taken to a site from Ingenta Collect. When I click on “Full Text” again, I find I needed to select the correct volume of the journal, so I am glad I had already filled out my data collection sheet. When I get to the journal, I discover I also needed to have the page numbers. Once again, I am pleased I filled out my data collection sheet. The book being reviewed is written by Linda Rubben, and it is characterized as “an engaging and well-written study” in a professional journal, Contemporary Sociology. So, I look for the book in the King Library catalog. It turns out that King does not have the book, so I check for it in Link+. Since it is not on Link+, I decide to request it from Interlibrary Services through ILLiad. When the book arrives, I will be very careful to return it on time, since fines for ILLiad are high! Proceed to page 7. |
