Bio

Born in México City, Julio received a BFA from San José State University, where he also studied painting & illustration. Upon graduation, he spent several years at the multi-disciplinary design firm Pentagram, working on a broad range of projects including branding, print, packaging, exhibit and web design. He has also worked extensively as an independent designer, with a special interest in community-oriented organizations. Recently, he has been involved on projects with the Taproot Foundation, developing design solutions on a pro-bono basis for various Bay Area non-profits. Over the course of his career his clients have included the Computer History Museum, the San Francisco Arts Commission, Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), the Magnes Museum, SF Indiefest, Logitech, Symantec, and Red Herring Magazine, among others. He is a co-founder and creative director at studio1500, a design firm in San Francisco that focuses on brand development and building collaborative relationships with clients large and small and is currently the Diversity Chair for the AIGA San Francisco Board of Directors.
