  • Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI)
    1982- present

    President (2006-2008), Board of Directors (1999-2002, 2008-2010), Newsletter Editor (2002-2005), Lead, Learning from Earthquakes Travel Study Program, (2016-present), Co-Chair Oral History Committee (2023-present): The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute is a national, nonprofit, technical society of engineers, geoscientists, architects, planners, public officials, and social scientists. EERI members include researchers, practicing professionals, educators, government officials, and building code regulators. The objective of EERI is to reduce earthquake risk by advancing the science and practice of earthquake engineering, by improving understanding of the impact of earthquakes on the physical, social, economic, political and cultural environment, and by advocating comprehensive and realistic measures for reducing the harmful effects of earthquakes.

  • Silicon Valley Women in Engineering Conference
    2016 - present
    Serve as a member of the organizing committee of this annual one day conference to educate, inspire and network current and future engineering leaders. 
  • Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) 
    1984-2005

    Coordinator several years and Planning Committee annually - This conference, held every spring at SJSU for 28 years, was aimed at encouraging young women to pursue careers in math, science, and engineering. Between 500 and 900 6th through 9th grade girls attended hands-on workshops facilitated by women professionals at this one day conference.
